West Virginia child support calculator
West Virginia uses the income-shares model: both parents’ adjusted gross income is combined, the basic obligation is read from the § 48-13-301 table, child care and health insurance are added, and the total is split in proportion to income. This calculator applies W. Va. Code § 48-13-301 and shows every step.
Calculate guideline support
Enter both parents’ adjusted gross monthly income. Add work-related child care and the children’s health-insurance premium if any. Parenting-time overnights for the paying parent are optional.

The table of basic obligations
The core of the calculation is the table in § 48-13-301 — indexed by combined adjusted gross monthly income (from $550 up to $35,000) and the number of children (one to six). The West Virginia table is adjusted for the state’s income relative to U.S. averages. Below $550 the court sets a discretionary amount (§ 48-13-302); above $35,000 the obligation is not less than the $35,000 figure (§ 48-13-303).
W. Va. Code § 48-13-301 to 48-13-303.
Child care and health care
To the basic obligation West Virginia adds work-related child care — reduced by the federal child-care tax credit (§ 48-13-601) — and the children’s health-insurance premium (§ 48-13-602); the total is divided in proportion to income. Unreimbursed medical expenses may also be shared.
W. Va. Code § 48-13-601, 48-13-602.
Shared and split custody
When the parent paying support keeps the child at least 127 nights a year (about 35% of the time), West Virginia applies the extended shared parenting adjustment (§ 48-13-501): the basic obligation is adjusted for the time the child spends with each parent and the amounts are offset, usually lowering the order. Split physical custody — where each parent has primary custody of different children — is worked out separately (§ 48-13-503). Because those need the exact overnight split, this calculator computes the sole-custody obligation and flags when a shared arrangement likely applies.

What this calculator does not do
It combines both parents’ income, reads the § 48-13-301 table, adds child care and health insurance, and splits the total by income share. It does not compute adjusted gross income from your pay stubs, apply the child-care tax-credit reduction, run the shared- or split-custody worksheets, or apply a deviation the court may order. For a figure you can file, use the official West Virginia worksheets or consult an attorney.
