Accessibility statement
These tools are meant to be usable by everyone, including people who rely on screen readers, keyboards, or enlarged text. Here is exactly what we do, what we deliberately avoid, and how to tell us when something is in your way.
Our commitment
CaseValueCalc targets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We treat that as an engineering requirement checked on every release, not a badge. In the same spirit as the rest of this site, we will be precise about what that claim means: we target AA and test against it, but we do not guarantee full conformance, and this statement is not a legal representation of compliance. Where we find a gap — or you find one for us — we fix it at the source.
What is built in
Every measure below lives in the site's own code and is enforced by our release tests:
- Text scales with your settings. All type is set in relative units, so the browser's font-size preference is honored. Nothing meant to be read is smaller than 14px, body text is 17px, and form inputs are at least 16px (which also stops iOS from zooming the page when you tap a field).
- Color contrast meets AA. Every text/background pair is computed against the 4.5:1 minimum; the lowest ratio on the site is 5.67:1.
- Full keyboard support. A skip link jumps past the header; the calculator tabs implement the ARIA tab pattern with roving tabindex and Arrow, Home, and End keys.
- Screen-reader announcements. Results are announced through polite live regions, and every input error is an inline message with
role="alert", tied to its field witharia-invalidandaria-describedby— never a browser popup. - Meaning is never color alone. Deadline urgency and warnings are stated in words as well as color.
- Motion and decoration respect you. Animations are disabled when your system asks for reduced motion, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
- Printable results. A print stylesheet renders results, including the full step-by-step work, on paper.
What we deliberately do not use
We do not install a third-party accessibility overlay widget. Overlays run after assistive technology has already read the page, can actively interfere with screen readers, and have drawn regulatory action for overstating what they fix. Organizations of blind users have asked websites not to use them. Our position is the same one behind every calculator here: fix the source, show the work.
Known limitations
Being honest about precision includes this page. The site has not yet been audited by an independent third-party accessibility firm; our testing is automated checks plus manual keyboard and screen-reader passes. Some pages carry long statutory tables and dense legal prose that are inherently heavy to navigate by ear — we structure them with proper table and heading semantics, but we know they are demanding. If a specific page or control does not work with your setup, we want to hear about it.
