Oklahoma child support calculator

Oklahoma uses the income-shares model: both parents’ gross monthly income is combined and applied to the 43 O.S. § 119 schedule, child care and health insurance are added, and the total is split in proportion to income. This calculator applies 43 O.S. §§ 118–119 and shows every step.

Educational estimate — not legal advice. The guideline amount is a rebuttable presumption; a court sets the actual order and may deviate from it (43 O.S. § 118).
    § 2

    The income-shares model

Oklahoma follows the income-shares model. The idea is that a child should receive the same proportion of parental income they would have if the parents lived together. Both parents’ gross monthly income is combined and applied to the statutory schedule, and each parent is responsible for the share that matches their percentage of the combined income. The noncustodial parent pays their share to the other.

    43 O.S. § 118, § 119.

    § 3

    The basic obligation schedule

The heart of the calculation is the Schedule of Basic Child Support Obligations in 43 O.S. § 119 — for each number of children (one to six) and each level of combined gross monthly income, the schedule gives the total support the two parents together owe. It runs from $650 up to $15,000 combined per month in $50 increments.

43 O.S. § 119 (Schedule of Basic Child Support Obligations).

    § 4

Child care, health insurance and low income

To the base obligation Oklahoma adds work-related child care and the children’s health-insurance premium (a cash medical support obligation), which are shared in proportion to income. The combined figure is the total obligation, split by income share. When combined income is below $650/month the schedule bottoms out and Oklahoma sets a minimum order.

43 O.S. § 118 (additions, cash medical support, minimum order).

    § 5

    Parenting time and deviations

When the noncustodial parent has the children for more than 120 overnights a year, 43 O.S. § 118 applies a parenting-time adjustment that reduces the base obligation to reflect the shared cost of two households. Because that needs the exact overnight count, this calculator computes the standard obligation before any parenting-time adjustment.

    43 O.S. § 118 (parenting-time adjustment); § 118 (deviations).

    § 6

What this calculator does not do

It combines both parents’ income, looks up the 43 O.S. § 119 schedule, adds child care and health insurance, and splits the total by income share. It does not compute gross income from your pay stubs, run the parenting-time adjustment, apply the minimum-order rules in detail, add extraordinary expenses, or apply a deviation the court may order. For a figure you can file, use the Oklahoma Child Support Services calculator or consult an attorney.

    § 7

    Common questions

How is child support calculated in Oklahoma?

Combine both parents’ gross monthly income, look up the 43 O.S. § 119 schedule for the number of children, add work-related child care and health insurance, and split the total in proportion to income. The noncustodial parent pays their share.

What is the Oklahoma child support schedule?

43 O.S. § 119 — the Schedule of Basic Child Support Obligations, indexed by combined gross monthly income (from $650 to $15,000 in $50 steps) and one to six children.

What if income is below $650 or above $15,000?

Below $650 combined monthly income the schedule bottoms out and Oklahoma sets a minimum order. Above $15,000 combined the court uses the $15,000 amount plus an additional amount in its discretion (43 O.S. § 118).

    What about parenting time?

When the noncustodial parent has the children more than 120 overnights a year, 43 O.S. § 118 applies a parenting-time adjustment that reduces the base obligation to reflect two households.

Is child support taxable in Oklahoma?

No — federally it’s not taxable to the recipient or deductible by the payer, the same in Oklahoma as everywhere.
